General recommendations
Service-Grip dead-ends, manufactured from aluminum clad steel and copper clad steel wire, are designed for the termination of bare aluminum and copper based conductors used for house service connections. The dead-end is recommended for house service by reason of minimum length, maximum economy and neat appearance.
Rated holding strength
The Service-Grip dead-end is designed as a limited tension Dead-end. Manufacturer will be pleased to advice on the holding strength of individual fittings. The following information will be needed:
Conductor:
Diameter
Lay direction
Holding Strength required
Length of span
Tapping
Tapping over the applied legs of Service-Grip dead-ends is not recommended. Taps can be made on the conductor ahead of the dead-end, or the conductor can continue through the crossover point of fitting, with connectors applied to the continued tail.
Material used
Service-Grip dead-ends are made of material compatible with the conductor to which they are applied.
Application and inspection
Ensure the correct size fitting is used. For detailed method of installation refer to application instructions. Service-grip dead-ends should not be re-used after original installation
